Join Amnesty’s Hornsby Action Group this International Women’s Day as we celebrate and highlight women that have stood up for their rights, for equality, and for justice. They will be collecting signatures and handing out origami flowers to show support for Iranian women’s rights defender Yasaman Aryani who has been sentenced to 5 years in jail for standing up for women’s rights. She was arrested, along with her mother, after a video of her handing out flowers to strangers on International Women’s Day 2019 went viral. In the video she was seen without a headscarf, a criminal offence in Iran.

Let’s stand up for Yasaman and for women’s rights by raising awareness about her case and putting pressure on the Iranian government to release Yasaman.

Come along and show your support for International Women’s Day!
