The Manly Group will be holding a stall at the Manly Village Public School Markets, to raise community awareness of the watch-house crisis in Queensland.
Amnesty International analysed hundreds of government documents related to the Brisbane City Watch House, which revealed over 2,655 breaches of international standards and state regulations. As of May 2019, there were 89 children in the Brisbane City Watch House, a facility designed to hold adults. These revelations were the focus of the recent ABC’s Four Corners episode, Inside the Watch House: Kids behind bars. You can find out more information here.
Amnesty Manly will be petitions for “Kids in Watch Houses” plus general information about Amnesty International Australia’s latest campaigns.
