Amnesty ANU is excited to be hosting a Speakers’ Forum on Marriage Equality in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Inspired by Amnesty International’s global marriage equality campaign, we hope to promote nationwide support of marriage equality, particularly amongst Australian youth. We also hope that through basing our discussion on the progress of LGBTI rights recognition in the Asia-Pacific region, we will be able to explore marriage equality beyond Australia.

Since Australia is often considered as a leading human rights defender in the region, we believe that the Government’s failure to pass a Marriage Equality Bill is not only an injustice for Australians but also a significant obstacle for LGBTI rights protection in the Asia-Pacific as a whole.

GUEST SPEAKERS:
Ivan Hinton-Teoh
Jeremy Youde
Gemma Killen

There will also be time for questions, as well as general discussion and FREE FOOD towards the end of the evening!! A range of dietary requirements will be catered for.
