Join Amnesty International Australia NSW staff and activists in Newtown, in front of the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre from 9am – 5pm. Come celebrate International Human Rights Day and the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and take action for Write for Rights!

Come have a conversation, write a letter and celebrate with us! Chill out on your day off, morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea break. You’ll also have a chance to meet some staff and activists and talk about the different ways you can get involved in the campaign and with Amnesty International in NSW.

Write for Rights is about bringing people together to take action. When tens of thousands of Amnesty activists take action; writing letters, signing petitions, and sending solidarity cards, we know that we can create change. Be part of the global letter writing marathon!

This year, activists all around the world will take action for women persecuted because they spoke out for human rights. From women imprisoned in Iran for opposing the death penalty, attacked with acid in Ukraine for standing up for LGBTQI rights, and disability advocates facing discrimination in Kyrgyzstan.

The world would be a poorer place without women like these standing up for human rights – so let’s stand with them.

We are looking forward to seeing you!
