Learn the story the world isn’t allowed to know! Unique opportunity to hear a first-hand account from brave Uyghur leader and spokesman.

Amnesty International invites everyone to ‘The Plight of the Uyghur People of East Turkistan’, a presentation by Nurmuhammad Majid Siddiq, Uyghur leader and spokesman. Nurmuhammad offers a personal, powerful, insightful and detailed presentation on the historical, political and economic influences of the current situation of the ethnic minority Turkic Uyghur Muslims in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). The tragic situation of the Uyghur people is barely acknowledged; with up to three million people interned in detention camps, known as ‘re-education’ centres.

Nurmuhammad, who now lives in Adelaide, has given presentations in Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. He shines a light on what some analysts believe may be ‘the largest imprisonment of a group of people on the basis of ethnicity since the second world war.’

There will be 5 events across Tasmania as part of the speaking tour.
