Friday February 24th marks the end of the University of Western Australia’s orientation week, also known as ‘O-Week’, with the final day, ‘O-Day’, transforming James Oval into a vibrant hub of activity with hundreds of interactive stalls.

The Amnesty International UWA club will be returning for O-Day 2023, offering $5.00 memberships, a ‘goodie’ bag for members containing Amnesty merchandise, stationery and sweets, and the chance to talk to some of the executive committee about Amnesty International, human rights, advocacy and activism. All funds raised from memberships will be donated to support Iranian protesters who have been unjustly prosecuted and facing the death penalty.

A campaign will be at the stall to educate students about the protests in Iran along with a petition urging Iranian authorities to quash all convictions and death sentences made against those exercising their right to freedom of expression.

A spin-the-wheel Amnesty and human rights related trivia quiz will also be at the stall with prizes to be won, along with a raffle to win a $100.00 JB-HI-FI gift voucher!
