It is five years since the re-opening of the detention centres on Nauru and Manus Island. In the intervening time 12 people have died and countless others faced irreparable psychological and physical damage caused by this inhumane detention. On the first Friday of each month, the Amnesty International Townsville Action Group holds a vigil outside their local MP’s office in protest of this inhumane treatment.
