Across Australia there are amazing women who have built relationships via phones calls with the people who this Government have trapped on Manus and Nauru. Meet some of these compassionate women.

The Lismore Amnesty Group invites you to meet and to be inspired by local women who talk to refugees on Manus Island and Nauru and support them.
This year marks 6 years of indefinite offshore detention. There have been 12 deaths so far.
The men and women who are being held indefinitely in the offshore prisons are highly traumatised and many have given up hope. These compassionate local women have provided support one to one on a personal level over years. These women are a lifeline to those detained and a reminder that life does go on in the real world. They share their lives and stories with them and create a sense of community and normality as best they can.
They are heroes with hearts of gold.
This event is part of the Lismore Women’s Festival.
