Amnesty International’s ARTillery Youth Arts Festival is back for 2009, and bigger than ever. During the festival, young people in Perth will use ART as their ARTillery to fight for human rights, while attending local multi-art events. ARTillery will run from the 10th of November to the 10th of December (International Human Rights Day) at venues across Perth. The festival, run by young activists, aims to educate and inspire young people to take action on human rights issues.

The Silent Tears of Indigenous Women in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh

Violence against Indigenous women in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh continues. Since 1972 there have been thirteen reported massacres of Indigenous peoples in the region. Thousands of Indigenous women have lost their homes and land, lost loved ones to the violence, and many have been raped and killed as the Bangladesh government-sanctioned grabbing of Indigenous land has continued.
